The process of ridding the community of an eyesore of a building in Marshall has begun.

During his report at the meeting of the Marshall City Council on Monday, July 18, City Administrator JD Kehrman said asbestos abatement is in progress at old Fitzgibbon Hospital in the 800 block of South Brunswick Avenue.

Kehrman talked more about what’s in the future for the land.

Old Fitz has sat mostly vacant for the past 30 years after the opening of the new Fitzgibbon Hospital on U.S. Highway 65 Bypass in Marshall in the early 1990s.
