Area firefighters battled a structure blaze over the weekend.

A release from the Warrensburg Fire Department says firefighters responded to a residential structure fire on West Market Street on Sunday, July 24.

Crews were dispatched at 2:58 a.m., and first crews arrived at 3:02 a.m. to find heavy fire at the rear of a single-family home. Crews made an aggressive interior fire attack. The fire was brought under control at 3:17 a.m. Crews had extensive overhaul in the attic area of the home. The last units cleared the scene at 7:32 a.m.

The cause of the fire is under investigation at this time.

No one was at home at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported.

WFD was assisted on the scene by the Johnson County Fire Protection District, Johnson County Ambulance District, Warrensburg Police Department, Evergy and Spire.
