Several projects in Chariton County are scheduled to start soon.

The Missouri Department of Transportation reminds motorists that Missouri Route 129 in Chariton County will close to all traffic on Monday, September 12, for a bridge deck replacement. The prime contractor for the project will close Route 129 at the bridge over the Chariton River, 0.5 miles south of Route O, near Salisbury.

The bridge is expected to reopen before the Thanksgiving Day holiday. During the closure, traffic will be routed over a signed detour on U.S. Route 24, Route 5 and Route O.

Also, the start date for the closure of Chariton County Route TT has changed.

The bridge deck of the Turkey Creek Bridge is in poor condition and in need of replacement. The Missouri Department of Transportation contracted with Emery Sapp & Sons, Inc. to complete a bridge deck replacement project at the bridge, located approximately 1 mile east of Route 139.

The bridge, which was built in 1961 and carries approximately 45 vehicles per day, will now close to all traffic on Tuesday, September 13, instead of Monday, September 19, as previously announced.

The bridge is expected to reopen by the end of November. During the closure, motorists will need to use an alternate route.

All work is weather dependent, and schedules are subject to change.
