The Carrollton Board of Education met recently and adopted a drug policy and approved cameras for buses.
The board approved modifications to the current student drug testing policy. “A student will be suspended from all activities for thirty days,” stated superintendent Dr. Danny DeWitt. The student can reduce the suspension to fifteen days if the student has verification that drug counseling has been scheduled.
Transportation supervisor Chuck Ward gave a presentation on the need for outside cameras for buses for extra security. Current cameras can record license plates of vehicles running through stop-arm signs but have difficulty identifying the driver . New cameras would record a clear photo of the person driving the vehicle.
