The USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) in Missouri announces the investment of $30,000 over the next three years to support the Missouri Agriculture Stewardship Conference in Central Missouri.
The Missouri Agriculture Stewardship Conference will be planned and hosted by the Santa Fe Agri-Leaders Chapter of the Missouri Young Farmers Association. The conference will promote soil health practices regarding stewardship towards soils, water, livestock, and native habitats in Central Missouri. The conference aims to bring education to producers, private landowners, historically underserved, cooperating agencies, and the public with the goal of increasing the number of farm acres implementing soil health principles.
“The Santa Fe Agri-Leaders are excited to utilize these funds to continue bringing timely education to the producers in Central Missouri. We are excited to stand in the gap and offer a high-quality conference each year.” Says Brittany Hemme of the Santa Fe Agri-Leaders. “This gives farmers the chance to hear from prominent leaders within the industry who will share applicable information, thereby giving farmers more tools to add to their toolbox. This grant will allow us to create an exceptional Conference right in the heart of Central Missouri. We are excited for what the Mo Ag Stewardship Conference can offer.”
“NRCS Missouri is looking forward to partnering with the Missouri Young Farmers Association to bring this educational opportunity to Central Missouri.” says Scott Edwards, State Conservationist in Missouri, “The conference will provide the local agriculture community an opportunity to learn about and discuss implementing conservation practices on their agricultural operations.”
The Missouri Agriculture Stewardship Conference us scheduled to be hosted in January 2023, 2024, and 2025.
