The Marshall High School Debate Squad competed in the Central District Speech and Debate Tournament over the weekend at State Fair Community College.

Michelle Lin placed first in Lincoln-Douglas Debate. Andrea Gooden placed first in Informative Speaking, first in Dramatic Interpretation and fourth in Poetry. James Petty placed fourth in Radio Speaking.

Liam Conner and Charles Raney placed fourth in Public Forum Debate and Garrett Bristow and Eliza Papreck placed fifth in Public Speaking Debate.

Marshall High School placed second overall in Team Debate Sweepstakes.

Lin and Gooden will advance to the Missouri State Speech and Debate Tournament, which will be held in Springfield in April for their first place finishes.
