The Marshall Philharmonic Orchestra has a special event planned for its patrons on Saturday, March 25, 2023. The event is scheduled to be held at 7 p.m. at Covenant Presbyterian Church.

This year’s annual Chamber Recital will feature The Four Winds Brass Quartet, as well as a 60th Anniversary Party. The event is free, open to the public and suitable for audiences of all ages.

The Four Winds Brass Quartet is a newly formed group that features Chuck Appleton and Dave Robinson on trumpet, Gary Moege, horn, and Kevin Lines, euphonium. As career music educators, these men spent more than 3 decades each of their days, nights, weekends and summers teaching and encouraging young musicians in the public school, collegiate and community settings of West-Central Missouri. Saturday’s recital will offer them the opportunity to return to what inspired them to become music teachers in the first place: the pure joy and fun of performing with and for others.

The first half of the recital will be dedicated to the glorious brass sounds akin to the Renaissance and Baroque styles of the German, French and Italian aristocracy of the 16th and 17th centuries. In complete contrast, the evening will close with the toe-tapping popular styles of marches and blues. The MPO board encourages all to come support the arts and enjoy a fun evening of great musical entertainment.
