The Salisbury Board of Aldermen accepted the results from the April 4, 2023 Municipal Election during its most recent meeting.

The board had two new members voted in during the election. Ronnie Stowers was elected in Ward 1, and Melanie Latamondeer in Ward 2. Outgoing aldermen Eddie Hubbard and Jerry Adams were recognized for their service.

Also, the city’s question regarding a sales tax increase from .875 percent to 1 percent in the city of Salisbury failed to pass.

In other news, aldermen approved several requests for the Steak Festival, which is scheduled for June 9-10. The board approved a request for a beer garden to be held on both days during the event. The board also approved a motion to allow open container be lifted in the park during the event. Both motions passed 6-0.
