The Missouri FFA Association recognized Keyton Meyer of the Slater FFA Chapter as the Area 6 Star in Agribusiness at the 95th Missouri FFA Convention. He is the son of Troy and Tera Meyer of Gilliam. His advisor is Zach Crews.

Area Stars in Agribusiness are selected based upon outstanding achievement in work experience in an agricultural business as part of a student’s supervised agricultural experience program and active participation in FFA. Area 6 includes 19 chapters in the Central District.

American Family Insurance sponsors the 16 area Star in Agribusiness awards as well as the State Star in Agribusiness Award.

Meyer’s SAE involves owning and operating a lawn mowing business. When tending to his customers’ properties, his services include trimming, weed eating, brush cleaning, and, when necessary, spraying and fertilizing.

The Missouri FFA Association awarded the Slater FFA Chapter a Gold Emblem, a Top Chapter Award. Slater placed 12th out of 355 chapters. Only 10 percent of state chapters receive a top chapter designation annually.

The top chapters in Missouri will compete for the National FFA Chapter Award. Winners will be announced this fall at the 96th National FFA Convention & Expo in Indianapolis.
