The Odessa Board of Aldermen approved a resolution continuing an agreement with the City of Higginsville for emergency dispatching services during its meeting on Monday, May 22, 2023.

City Administrator Shawna Davis stated the agreement has been approved annually for the City of Odessa for many years. Davis stated there would be an expected increase in cost for the service due to Higginsville doing their own dispatching.

In other news from the meeting, the board granted a request for a Boy Scout camping event at the Odessa Reservoir, for use of the area from October 20 through 22, 2023. The camping event will involve over 100 Boy Scouts. The approval also allows for above ground fires as long as conditions allow for it.
