
The St. Louis Cardinals dropped their fifth straight game and were swept by the San Francisco Giants after an 8-5 loss in extra innings on Wednesday, June 14.
Giovanni Gallegos blew a two-run lead in the ninth after Mike Yastrzemski hit his eighth homer of the year. Steven Matz came into the game in the tenth inning and gave up three runs that put the Giants up for good.
Cardinals starter Jordan Montgomery went 6 1/3, allowing three runs and striking out seven. He exited with a 5-3 lead.
Tommy Edman hit a grand slam in the second inning for his seventh home run. Jordan Walker had two hits and also drove in a run.
The Cardinals are 27-42 and last in the NL Central.
