
The Marshall City Council passed appropriation of funds after Mayor Vince Lutterbie broke a tie vote during its meeting on Tuesday, June 20.
Councilman Drew Green brought an amendment to the council to not pay Paul Martin Law, LLC because of belief that the contract is not valid.
Councilmen Allen, Green and Swisher voted to remove the payment from appropriations while Councilmen Perkins, Guthrie and Cook voted to keep the payment in. Mayor Lutterbie broke the tie vote keeping the payment to the law firm in the appropriation.
In other news from the meeting, Marshall Municipal Service Director Terry Gibson stated a total 21.45 tons was picked up at the recent bulk pickup. Gibson was also honored for service to the community by Mayor Lutterbie at the end of the meeting. Gibson will be retiring at the end of the month.
