The St. Louis Cardinals gave up runs early and often to the Chicago Cubs, and dropped the first game of the 2023 London Series 9-1 on Saturday, June 24.

Adam Wainwright got roughed up, allowing seven runs on eleven hits over three innings. Ian Happ and Dansby Swanson both homered for Chicago.

Justin Steele had a quality start, going six innings of one-run ball. He also struck out eight Cardinal batters.

Paul Goldschmidt drove in the lone Cardinal run with an RBI single in the sixth inning.
