The Saline County Rural Fire Protection District is encouraging safety during the 4th of July holiday as extreme drought conditions continue in the area.

Residents should have good judgement when discharging fireworks. Make sure you have a good water source available and be very conscious of neighbors and surroundings.

The district also asks residents to cease any open flame burning until weather conditions improve.
