A Marshall man has been charged with multiple felonies involving child pornography.

According to a probable cause statement, On March 17, 2023 investigators identified an IP address possibly associated with online child pornography. Several files the suspect device was making available online were allegedly downloaded directly from the suspect device.

On July 18, authorities served a search warrant on a residence in Marshall. During the service of the warrant, Brett Scarborough allegedly admitted to searching for files of child pornography using peer to peer file sharing software and admitted to viewing in the previous 24 hours. A forensic examination of Scarborough’s personal computer allegedly revealed thousands of file of child pornography.

According to court documents, Scarborough has charged with a felony for promoting child pornography and three counts of possession of child pornography.

No bond has been set.

Scarborough had an initial appearance on Wednesday, July 19.
