The Howard County Sheriff’s Department arrested a male subject after a vehicle pursuit on September 6.
According to the Howard County Sheriff’s Department, deputies observed equipment violations and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The vehicle failed to yield to emergency lights and siren and a pursuit began. The pursuit traveled down County Road 345, through Franklin, down County Road 342 and northbound on Highway 87. As deputies pursued the vehicle Northbound on Highway 87, Glasgow Police Department was able to get positioned at the intersection of Highway 87 and State Route K and set up spike strips which were successfully deployed.
The vehicle continued to flee from deputies Northbound on Highway 87 with the front passenger tire deflated. As the pursuit approached County Road 306, the vehicle began to slow down and came to a stop at the intersection of Highway 87 and County Road 306. Deputies were able to take the driver, identified as Colton Adams, into custody without further incident.
After taking Adams into custody, Glasgow Police Department’s K9 unit was deployed for a free air sniff of the vehicle. The K9 gave a positive indication, and a probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted. During the search of the vehicle, the driver’s seat was swabbed, and field tested positive for methamphetamine. Adams also displayed signs of impairment and a Driving while Intoxicated investigation was completed. A check of Adams’ information also showed he had a No Bond arrest warrant for a parole violation. Adams was transported to the Howard County Detention Center where he was held on the warrant.
Court documents say Adams is charged with felonies for possession of a controlled substance and resisting arrest by fleeing. Bond was set at $10,000 cash only.
A bond review hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. Tuesday, September 12 at Howard County Circuit Court.
