Saline County officials and employees share a moment of silence at the POW-MIA Memorial on Friday, September 15, which is National POW-MIA Recognition Day.

The Memorial was dedicated on September 20, 2013. A 2012 committee was helped place the memorial at the Saline County Courthouse with the names of the prisoners of war (POW) and those missing in action (MIA) from Saline County.

National POW-MIA Recognition Day was established in 1979 through a proclamation signed by President Jimmy Carter. POW-MIA Recognition Day is commemorated on the third Friday of every September.
