
Thurwon Clell Swift, 90, of Marshall, MO, died Monday, September 25, 2023, at The Living Center in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 30, 2023, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall with William W. Harlow officiating. Burial will follow in Ridge Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Alzheimer’s Research Foundation or Good Shepherd Hospice. Born August 18, 1933, in rural Miami, MO, he was the son of the late Willis Franklin Swift and Bonnie Beatrice Warner Swift. On December 7, 1956, he married Shirley Lea Templeton who survives of the home. Clell served in the United States Marine Corps with 2 ½ of those years being at the American Embassy in Iran. In his younger years, he worked for Ralph McAllister Trucking, and was then a meat salesman and a car salesman. Clell then began his own trucking company, Swift Carriers, and was owner/operator until his health didn’t allow it, as well as raising cattle for over 50 years. He was a member of the Elks, Malta Bend American Legion Post 558, and the 40 year Happy Hour Club.
In addition to his wife, Shirley; he is survived by three children: Geila Renard (Ron), Gregory Clell Swift (Deb) and Cindy Hayob (Steve), all of Marshall; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Reba Carter of Marshall; one brother, Gaylon Swift of Marshall; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
Clell was preceded in death by his parents, one great-grandson, Beau Clell Hayob; two brothers, Willis and Thurman Swift; and one sister, Gladys Perryman.
