The Marshall Public Schools Board of Education discussed filing dates for the April 2024 Election during its meeting on Monday, November 13.

Board President Bryon Jacques said the filing date is from December 5 to December 26.

There are two seats up for reelection on the board. Both Jacques and Erin Meyer’s position will be up for election. Both seats are three-year terms.

In other news, the board heard a presentation from Kelly Callanan, Wick Jacobi, and Mike Machholz about naming the gym after longtime wrestling coach and teacher Jim Hargrave. As a head coach, Hargrave led the boy wrestling team to the state championship in 1978 and 1979.

The board is in favor of renaming the gym in Hargrave’s honor, however, the board needs to review the policies regarding renaming buildings before anything can be official. The court would still named Kevin Hart Court, but the entire gymnasium would be renamed in Hargrave’s honor.
