42 Smith-Cotton band and orchestra students traveled to Warrensburg to audition against over 400 students for spots in the West Central MMEA district honor ensembles on Saturday, November 11. Smith-Cotton had 22 students recognized and they will perform with one or more of these groups in January:

Honor Band:
-Gabriel Toderescu-Stavila, 1st chair oboe (also placed 1st on English horn)
-Holden Fox, 1st chair contra clarinet (also placed 2nd on alto saxophone)
-Grayson Young, 2nd chair trombone
-Ethan Williams, 2nd chair oboe
-Josue Carlos, 6th chair trombone
-Christopher Gilman, 2nd alternate bass clarinet
-Gideon Fox, 2nd alternate horn

Jazz Band:
-Patience McGinnis, 1st chair bass
-Holden Fox, 2nd chair tenor saxophone (also placed 2nd on baritone saxophone)

Orchestra:
-Aubrey Burch, 1st chair cello
-Gabriel Toderescu-Stavila, 1st chair oboe/English horn
-Grayson Young, 2nd chair trombone
-Patience McGinnis, 3rd chair violin I
-Audrey Lewis, 3rd chair viola

Students named to the All-District Honor Band, Jazz Band, or Orchestra will have the opportunity to audition for All-State ensembles in December.
