A wind chill advisory will be in effect in several are counties until 12 p.m. Friday, January 19.

Very cold wind chills are expected, with the lows expected to reach 20 below zero. The cold wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes. Residents should use caution while traveling outside and wear appropriate clothing, hats, and gloves.

The affected counties include Saline, Howard, Johnson, Pettis, Cooper, Lafayette, Carroll, and Chariton in the KMMO listening area.

The advisory is in effect at 12 a.m. Thursday, January 18.
