On October 27, 2023, the Boonville Police Department was dispatched to 100 Isle of Capri Boulevard, in Boonville.

BPD was informed about a stolen firearm discovered in the lobby bathroom trash can, that appeared to be concealed by a victim.

Police were later able to identify the firearm owner, which belonged to 45-year-old Dietrick Minnis. A MULES/NCIC query revealed Minnis had a disqualified status in the International Firearm System, meaning he was not allowed to own or possess a firearm.

The victim who concealed Minnis’ firearm spoke with Boonville Police and stated that earlier that morning, Minnis had begun arguing with them about a refund for their previous stay at the facility, which he claimed was never received. Minnis allegedly struck the individual’s head multiple times with open hands

A MULES/NCIC query revealed Minnis had a disqualified status in the International Firearm System, meaning he was not allowed to own or possess a firearm.

Dietrick Minnis has been charged with three felonies, Domestic Assault in the  third degree, a felony in receiving stolen property, and a felony in unlawful possession of a gun.

Minnis’ bond is set at $15,000 cash or surety.
