On Thursday, the Sedalia School 200 District received a grant of $293,500 from the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. This funding was allocated through the Competency-Based Education grant program.
The total amount awarded through this program exceeded $2.2 million, benefiting several other districts including Lebanon R-3, Maplewood-Richmond Heights, Pattonville R-3, Ritenour, Ste. Genevieve R-2, and the Success-Ready Student Network.
According to the announcement, districts applied for these grants to bolster their eligible local Competency-Based Education (CBE) initiatives.
These programs aim to provide students with flexible pathways to advance, demonstrate mastery, and earn academic credits. They offer individualized learning options, assess proficiency based on the acquisition of essential knowledge and skills, and evaluate mastery through performance-based tasks.
