The Slater City Council approved a motion to apply for a Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) Grant application during its meeting on Tuesday, March 26.
The Missouri Department of Transportation distributes TAP funds outside TMA boundaries every two years (even years) through a competitive selection process. In order for the city to apply for the grant, the city needs to develop a pedestrian transportation plan before being considered for the grant. The council voted to spend $3,000 for an engineer to design the transportation plan, and submit for the TAP Grant.
In other news, it was announced that the Slater Wastewater Treatment Plant received the Wastewater System of the Year award from the Missouri Rural Water Association. The council celebrated the achievement and congratulated everyone involved with Slater’s wastewater system.
Also, the city will hold a rabies clinic for citizens who want need to get their pets a rabies shot and the appropriate city tags. A rabies shot will be $20 cash only. City tags will also be available, with the cost being $10 for every fixed dog or cat; and $65 for a non-fixed animal. The clinic will be held from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 10.
