The Concordia High School softball team defeated Ash Grove to win the MSHSAA Class 1 state title on Tuesday, May 21.
The Lady Orioles scored an unearned run in the top of the first inning, giving pitcher Olivia Hemme all the run support she would need. Hemme pitched a complete game, striking out 12 and only allowing three hits and three walks in the game.
Hemme also pitched in Concordia’s Monday afternoon win over Holcomb, where the Lady Orioles won 7-1 to advance to the championship game.
The Lady Orioles completed the season with a 30-2 overall record, winning 27 straight games dating back to March 22.
