The Sedalia City Council approved amendments to an agreement relating to bonds for the Nucor plant on Tuesday, September 3.
City Administrator Kelvin Shaw said Nucor needs to expand their rail spur to make operations more efficient on that rail line. He notes the council had to grant Nucor an easement for the expansion.
Shaw said the council had to amend the property tax agreements with Nucor to make sure the new rail spur would be included with the other property for the tax abatement.
In other news, the council authorized the Sedalia Police Department to apply for two grants. On e of the grants was the Fiscal Year 2024 homeland Security Program Counter Terrorism Officer grant for $7,184, while the other was the Local Violent Crime Prevention Grant for $26, 783.52.
