The City of Fayette is purchasing a new incinerator for use by the city’s police department.
Aldermen agreed to the purchase at last week’s board meeting. Mayor Greg Stidham tells KMMO News the cost will be shared by the Howard County Sheriff’s Office.
Aldermen also approved the purchase of a new air conditioning unit for the city’s electric switch building.
The low bid was from Vaughn Heating and Cooling of Columbia for $7980.
Fayette’s board of aldermen also approved changes to the city’s animal licensing ordinance, allowing residents to apply for three-year licenses provided the animal’s vaccinations are up to date. The city also set its tax levy for 2024 at $0.5929, which is $0.0022 higher than a year ago. The council also approved a new trash service fee with RTS and expressed support for Central Methodist University’s improvements along Church Street.
