The Carroll-Livingston Activities Association has suspended the membership of Braymer C-4.
Braymer’s 11 counterparts in the CLAA voted unanimously in favor of the motion during a meeting of conference superintendents Friday, Jan. 10. According to a statement from the conference, two “concerning” incidents involving Braymer athletes, coaches and spectators occurred during conference basketball games in December. Superintendents conducted an investigation, including a review of video footage. They met earlier this week to express concerns about Braymer’s behavior, and also fielded testimony from schools involved in the incidents. Conference officials acknowledged efforts by Braymer school leadership to address the issues that the statement calls “long standing”, and note that some of the incidents leading to Friday’s vote have involved law enforcement.
During the suspension, any remaining scheduled CLAA basketball games involving Braymer will not count as official games, and conference schools may drop them from their schedule without being assessed a penalty. Conference superintendents will take a vote on the future of Braymer’s membership in the CLAA at their Winter Meeting on Feb. 5.
