The Sweet Springs Board of Aldermen accepted the April Municipal Election results and welcomed its new and returning aldermen during its meeting on Monday, April 14.

Tracie Dillon beat out incumbent Wyatt Lea for the Ward 1 seat, collecting 57 votes to Lea’s 24. Boyd Jones ran unopposed in Ward 2, collecting 49 votes.

The board then approved a motion nominating Alderman Jones as President of the Board. Mayor Francis Vaught also announced City Board Liaison appointments. Jones was selected for the Cemetery and Planning and Zoning committee, Alderman John Clevenger to Police and Public Works, Alderman Trey Schleicher to the Library and Park Boards, and Dillon to the Pool and Recreation Boards.

In other news, aldermen approved a motion in closed session to give all full-time employees a $1 raise. The motion passed with a 3-1 vote, with Schleicher voting no.
