Shirley J. Roe, 84, of Sedalia, died Saturday, January 31, 2026 at Sylvia G. Thompson Residence Center surrounded by family.

Born June 5, 1941 in Sedalia, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Eleanor Boetjer Reynolds. On February 4, 1961 in Sedalia, she was united in marriage to Robert Eugene “Bob” Roe, who preceded her in death on December 2, 2019.

Shirley was raised and educated in Sedalia and Belleville, IL. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Parish in Sedalia and had been a member of the Daughter’s of Isabella Circle 310. For many years she helped with church funeral dinners and baked homemade rolls for the dinners. Shirley was also in charge of after school care at Sacred Heart School in the early 90’s. Affectionately known by her family as “Nanny”, one of her greatest joys was spending time with family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving are a daughter, Susan Baumgarner (Marvin) of Sedalia; two sons, Mark Roe (Marilyn) of Sedalia and Paul Roe (Jeny) of Washington; a daughter-in-law, Felina Roe of Riverside, CA; 8 grandchildren, Matthew Gardner (Michelle); Meghan Schmitz (Jason), Robert Roe (Andrea), Jennifer Miser (Jeff), Rebeca Roe, Kristina Roe, Jessica Nino (L.J.) and Steven Ross (Rhiannon); 13 great-grandchildren, Madison Campbell (Brendan), Thomas Gardner, Damien and Riley Roe, Nathan Roe, Jayden and Jordyn Schmitz, Ellouise and L.J. Nino Jr., Silas and Scottie Miser, and Liam and Scarlett Ross; 2 great-great-grandchildren, Olivia and Mary Campbell; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday, February 6, 2026 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Sacred Heart Chapel with Fr. Martin Masiisa officitaing. Pallbearers will be Matthew Gardner, Robert Roe, Jason Schmitz, Jeff Miser, L.J. Nino, Thomas Gardner, Damien Roe and Nathan Roe. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Friday at the church. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, or the Sacred Heart Foundation, in care of McLaughlin Funeral Chapel.
