A fix is in the works for parking and traffic flow at two of Sedalia’s schools.

At their Monday, Mar. 9 meeting, the Sedalia School District 200 Board of Education accepted the lowest of four bids submitted to build an additional parking lane at Sedalia Middle School and the entrance to one of the parking lots at Smith-Cotton Junior High. Supt. Dr Todd Fraley says it’s one of a number of improvements to increase student safety and traffic efficiency.
.

Fraley says another safety improvement will involve drainage work for the bus dropoff lane.

B & P Excavating of Sedalia will complete the work this summer for $633,588. Also Monday night, the board approved a change order to add roller shades to the boardroom’s windows at the new central office, totaling $1182.30, and set a public hearing for April 13 at 6 p.m. for a proposed issuance of lease certificates to fund improvements at four of the district’s schools. The board then received a presentation from LJ Hart and Commerce Bank on two lease purchase options, one totaling $10 million and the other worth $15 million.
