An old Big Eight rivalry will reignite Labor Day Weekend within the friendly confines of Wrigley Field.
Mizzou Volleyball announced Monday, Mar. 30 that they will take part in one of two matches the evening of Sunday, Sept. 6 on the Northside of Chicago as part of the SEC/Big Ten Volleyball Challenge week. The nationally televised match is set to pit Mizzou against former conference foes Nebraska. The doubleheader will also include a contest between national runners-up Kentucky and Penn State. It’ll be Mizzou’s first-ever outdoor match, while Nebraska’s storied volleyball program played in front of a record-setting crowd of 92,003 fans at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln against the Omaha Mavericks as part of the 2023 season.
Mizzou is coming off a season without a trip to the NCAA tournament, missing out after a second-round SEC tournament loss in November to Ole Miss that wrapped up the season with a 17-11 record. The Tigers’ spring volleyball schedule include tournaments over the next month at Kansas City, the University of Kansas, and finally at the Hearnes Center in Columbia.
