The Blackburn Board of Aldermen approved a bid for asphalt milling work in the city during its meeting on Monday, April 13.
The lone bid received came from IG Construction for the asphalt work on 5th Street, 1st Street, and Rea Street as well as other parts of the city. The board approved the total bid of $37,000. Funding for the work came out of the city’s street fund as well as a portion of economic development funds from the Develop Saline County Advisory Board.
The board also approved its insurance renewal with Star Insurance. The city is facing nine percent increase, which is about a $755 increase in the city’s premiums.
Aldermen also reviewed the results from the April Municipal Election. Jeremy McKeage will succeed Robert Steffens as Mayor, Valerie Hall secured another two-year term in Ward 1, and Janice Stoll was elected for a full term in Ward 2. The board plans to have its reorganization during its next meeting.
