The Northwestern Eagles Scholar Bowl team have their sights set on a district title when they travel to Jamesport for the Class One, District Five tournament Saturday, Apr. 18.
The Eagles are coming off their second straight title in the Carroll-Livingston Activities Association, led by sophomore Bryce Hayes.
.
Northwestern’s hopes for a record-setting season included a trip out of conference to a tournament hosted last month by Marceline.
Northwestern went 7-2 at Marceline, including wins over Hannibal and Moberly. Hayes placed second individually with 108 points per game in the preliminary rounds.
Hayes says he expects a challenge Saturday from Newtown-Harris and Novinger, who he says both posted strong performances in their respective conferences. Hale, Linn County R-I, and Meadville will also compete in Class One, District Five tomorrow.
Joining Hayes on the Northwestern squad are seniors Ella Brown, Samuel Parris and Sophie Speichinger, sophomores Kypton Batye, Sarah Batye and Payton Spencer, and freshman Mackinze Cross.
