
State Fair Community College is recognizing its 2026 student art show winners during its annual art show from April 9 to May 10 in the Daum Museum of Contemporary Art on the Sedalia campus.
The show is open to all students who have taken studio art classes at SFCC. Participating student-artists collaborated with art faculty to select work that best represented them. The show features 74 artworks by 43 student-artists in a wide range of media, from paintings, drawings, photography, sculpture, mixed media, and ceramics. Awards were presented at the student show opening on April 9. These awards included two President Purchase Awards, chosen by SFCC President Dr. Bates; six SFCC Art Department Awards, selected by instructors Dr. Meghan McClellan and Emilee Kuehner; and three cash awards for excellence from the Sedalia Visual Arts Association (SVAA).
The President’s Awards were given to Liz Haugland for The Big Bite, and Alex Britton for Have You Seen Me Lately? The complete list of this year’s 2026 Student Exhibition Award recipients is available below:
SFCC Art Department Awards: Cailin Enix, Char-Skull (honorable mention); Kimberly Turcios, Center Stage (honorable mention); Chelsea Elaine Lange (Excellence in Art Award); Rayna White, Self-Portrait (third place); Trinity White, Unpredictable Ridges in Life (second place); Seth DeBates, Zephyr (first place).
Student Visual Arts Association (SVAA) Award: Michel Lugo, Self-Portrait; Samuel Verbovshchuk, Spring Pastures; Ron Willett, Us Between.
Daum Museum hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The museum is closed Mondays. Admission is free.
