A Sedalia man was sentenced Monday, Apr. 20 to six months in prison after admitting in court to stabbing a man who had knocked on his door last December.
43-year-old Samuel Storer agreed Monday in Pettis County Circuit Court to plead guilty to a downgraded charge of third-degree assault. He was initially facing charges of first-degree assault and armed criminal action after the Dec. 10, 2025 stabbing of a man who was found by sheriff’s deputies near a roadway outside Sedalia.
According to a probable cause statement, the victim’s girlfriend told deputies that the victim had been in Storer’s home earlier in the day, but that Storer had asked him to leave and not return. Storer told deputies that he believed the victim attempted to break into the house, prompting him to react and stab the victim. Deputies say they recovered the knife believed to have been used in the assault, and noted that Storer may have been under the influence of an unknown substance.
Storer will received credit for time served as part of the 180-day sentence he received Monday.
