It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Dannie Otis Griffitt, who departed this life on April 20, 2026, at the age of 86.

Dannie was born on September 18, 1939, in Sweet Springs, MO, to Chester and Opal Griffitt. He grew up in rural Sweet Springs and went on to work at the Shoe Factory, Conagra and Quinn’s (Coreslab). Dannie was mechanically inclined, the best welder, and he could weld anything without any plans or blueprints. Dannie was very determined, once he set his mind on something, he didn’t give up. Throughout life, he was known for his kindness, humor and being ornery. He left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him. Dannie was united in marriage to Alberta Mills on December 3, 1983.

 

Dannie was a devoted husband, parent, grandparent and friend. He took great pride in his family. Dannie enjoyed hunting, fishing, searching for morel mushrooms, driving the gravel roads and was an avid NASCAR fan. He loved spending time with his family and cherished the time he spent with his grandkids.

 

Dannie is survived by his daughter, Brenda (Bart) Brackman of Concordia, MO; son, Glenn (Beth) Gross of Windsor, MO; son, Allen Gross of Marshall, MO; and daughter, Michele Gross of Marshall, MO; grandchildren: Brooke (Shaun) Edwards of New Bloomfield, MO, Brad (Nicole) Brackman of Concordia, MO, Sara (Kyle) Gribbin of Chesapeake, VA, Alicia Gross of Cole Camp, MO, Grayson Gross of Windsor, MO, Cody Moss of Marshall, MO, Tiffany Gross of Marshall, MO, and Elizabeth Gross-McNulty of Marshall, MO; his twin brother, David (Marie) Griffitt of Slater, MO; brother, Uthel (Terry) Griffitt of Marshall, MO; sister, Joyce (Butch) Eckhoff of Sweet Springs, MO; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

 

Dannie was preceded in death by his parents, Chester & Opal; and his wife, Alberta.

 

Dannie will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
