Slater City Administrator Gene Griffith provided an update on the city’s current power outage following severe weather that hit the surrounding community the morning of Monday, April 27.

Griffith tells KMMO News that Evergy has informed him that residents could be without power for the next 24 to 48 hours.

Around 25 to 30 poles were knocked down in the city limits of Slater. Griffith notes the city has activated generators to help keep the water plant running.

Griffith says there is a group providing food to residents in need at 6 p.m.

Residents are encouraged to make alternate plans over the next few days until power is restored to the city. Slater Ambulance has temporarily moved to the old police station at this time. The City has also been in contact with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources regarding water and sewer needs. Saline County Sheriff’s deputies will also patrol the city throughout the evening.
