Technical issues have resulted in University of Missouri Extension and its partners extending the deadline for farm families to apply for Missouri Century Farm recognition this year.
Extension says the new deadline for farms to apply for the recognition is now May 15, 2026. Qualifying farms must have been owned by the same family for 100 consecutive years. The line of ownership from the original buyer or settler may be through children, grandchildren, siblings, or nephews and nieces, including through marriage or adoption. The farm must have at least 40 acres of the original land acquisition and make a financial contribution to the overall farm income. A $140 fee covers the cost of a certificate, metal farm sign, and booklet for approved applicants. More than 10,000 farms have received the Missouri Century Farm designation since the program launched in 1976.
Farm families who meet the eligibility requirements can apply for the recognition at their local MU Extension center or complete the online application on Extension’s website.
