The Knob Noster Board of Aldermen held a discussion regarding some changes to the city’s fireworks ordinance during its meeting on Tuesday, May 5.
The city’s current ordinance prohibits the manufacture, store, display, sell or discharge fireworks in the City, except within the performance of a licensed public exhibition, under permit granted by the Mayor and Board of Aldermen. City Administrator Cameron Jackson tells KMMO News that city staff have raised concerns over the number of calls received each year regarding complaints about fireworks.
Jackson says staff are drafting a sample ordinance that will outline what kinds of fireworks are permitted and when they can be used.
The Board of Aldermen also approved the contract submitted by Veenstra and Kimm for right-of-way work for the city’s Downtown Sidewalk Project.
The board will next meet on Tuesday, May 19.
