Cooper County Route Z will be reduced to one lane on the bridge over Interstate 70 on Saturday, May 16, as crews perform bridge boring operations as part of the Improve I-70: Concordia to Boonville project.

This work was originally scheduled for April 18 but was postponed due to flooding. Bridge borings allow for a detailed examination of the geology below the surface. By studying the samples obtained, the program team can make more informed decisions on design and material elements regarding bridge structures as they work to expand I-70 to three lanes in each direction across Missouri. Construction crews working with the Missouri Department of Transportation will use flagging operation to guide traffic through the single-lane work zone during the daytime hours Saturday.

All work is weather-permitting, and schedules are subject to change. Motorists are asked to use caution and pay extra attention through the work zone
