Two Lincoln residents were killed when their vehicle crashed into oncoming traffic on a highway west of Clinton on Sunday, May 17.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says that the sedan a 77-year-old woman from Lincoln was driving east on Route 7 about two miles west of Clinton crossed the center line before 3 p.m. and into the path of another sedan, driven by a 54-year-old woman from Clinton. The second sedan was then struck by a westbound truck driven by a 59-year-old man from Kansas. The Lincoln woman was taken to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead a short time later. Her 81-year-old passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. The Clinton woman was flown to a Kansas City area hospital with serious injuries, while no injuries were reported for the Kansas driver.
