The Marshall City Council could be back to full strength after their Tuesday, May 19 meeting, as an appointment for the vacancy in Ward Two is listed as an agenda item.

The seat has sat vacant since the March 17 meeting, where Nathan Swisher announced his resignation. Whoever is appointed by Mayor Craig Thompson will need the approval of the city council, and will serve the remaining 11 months of the term. Also Tuesday evening, the council will consider a number of appointments to the Park Board, and whether to suspend city ordinances to allow alcohol consumption during next month’s Goat Hill Fest hosted by the Marshall Chamber of Commerce. Two additional ordinances pertaining to the Marshall Energy Center are also up for consideration. The Marshall City Council will begin their meeting at 6 p.m.

Elsewhere, the Slater City Council will meet Tuesday at 6 p.m., with an update on the city’s pool season as well as the upcoming dog tag and rabies clinic. The Moberly City Council also meets Tuesday at 6 p.m., with a public hearing on proposed property tax rates opening the session before the council considers a pair of cooperative agreements for real estate developments. The Boonville City Council will have their meeting at 7 p.m., with the council considering resolutions seeking a grant from the Missouri Department of Natural Resources for lead line replacement and an agreement for new lights at the tennis courts at Lions Park. The Knob Noster Board of Aldermen will meet at 6 p.m., as will the Green Ridge R-VIII School Board.
