The Odessa Board of Aldermen is hosting a special meeting and workshop Tuesday to review and discuss the city’s electric rates.

The board will start the meeting by reviewing a bill amending City Ordinance regarding changes to inspections. Aldermen will then move on to its discussion of electric rates, which will be presented by Allgeier, Martin, and Associates.

Board members first reviewed findings of an Electric Rate Study conducted by Allgeier, Martin and Associates in March, which found the City’s commercial rate to be high, while the residential rate was low for what the cost of service is. A rate adjustment and reclassification was proposed in March, but the board expressed its desire to avoid any rate increase.

The special meeting will get underway at 6 p.m. in the Odessa Community Building, located at 601 West Main Street.
