
A 37-year-old De Witt man facing felony charges after a traffic stop in Carroll County last month has been arrested and has a court hearing scheduled for this week.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports, on July 15, a trooper conducted a traffic stop and attempted to arrest Timothy Lee Sparks. While the trooper was attempting to handcuff Sparks, broke free from the trooper and fled into a nearby wooded area and was not located. Prior to him pulling away from the trooper, Sparks was searched and the trooper located a folded up $20 bill that contained methamphetamine.
Sparks was arrested on August 17 and a warrant was served. Sparks has been charged with a Class D Felony for Possession of a Controlled Substance; a Class E Felony for Resisting Arrest; six misdemeanors and two infractions.
At his initial appearance on August 18, Sparks entered a plea of not guilty and the court amended his bond to $5,000 cash or surety.
His next court appearance is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Wednesday, August 26 at Carroll County Circuit Court.
