Increasing by another 2,600-plus in the last couple of days, the total number of positive cases of COVID-19 has topped 83,000 in the state since the beginning of the pandemic.

According to the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, as of 2 p.m. on Sunday, August 30, the total number of positive cases was 83,655- up from 80,992 on Friday, August 28.

The number of COVID-19-related deaths jumped by 44 from 1,464 on Friday to 1,508 on Sunday. However, DHSS does not report how many positive patients have recovered.

DHSS expects the next update to take place at 2 p.m. on Monday, August 31.
