Increasing by more than 1,600 on Wednesday, September 2, the state’s total number of positive COVID-19 cases eclipsed 87,000 since the beginning of the pandemic.

According to the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, the total number of positive cases was 87,213- up from 85,755 on Tuesday, September 1.

The number of COVID-19-related deaths increased by four from 1,538 on Tuesday to 1,542 on Wednesday. However, DHSS does not report how many positive patients have recovered.

DHSS expects the next update to take place at 2 p.m. on Thursday, September 3.
