
The positive case count of COVID-19 grew in several area counties over the past few days.
According to health-department officials, Pettis County’s total number of positive cases increased by 30 over the Labor Day holiday weekend to 829. With 700 positive patients released from public health isolation as recovered and nine deaths, there are 120 active cases, including three persons hospitalized. Officials say there have been a total of 8,737 individual PCR tests conducted on Pettis County residents as of September 7.
Five newly-diagnosed positive cases were reported in Saline County on Tuesday, bringing its total to 599. With 518 recoveries and nine deaths, there are 72 active cases, including one person hospitalized.
Four new positive cases were added in Howard County, upping its total to 199. With 133 positive patients recovered- including 10 on Tuesday- and one death, there are 65 active cases.
Lafayette County officials reported two new positive cases on Tuesday. That raises its total to 272. With three deaths and 217 positive patients recovered, there are 52 active cases. About 17 percent of the county’s population has been tested.
Chariton County officials reported one new positive case on Tuesday, raising the county’s total to 54. Due to 38 positive patients being released from public health isolation as recovered, there are 16 active cases.
No new cases were reported in Cooper County on Tuesday. The previous numbers were 259 total as of Monday. With 209 positive patients recovered and three deaths, there were 48 active cases. Eleven positive cases were travel related and 248 through community transmission. Congregate-living cases break down as 79 inmates and 38 employees. Thirteen positive cases have been in nursing or assisted-living homes.
An update was not available from Carroll County. Its total positive case count remained at 101 as of Monday. With 95 positive patients recovered, six cases were active.
