Two Boonville residents have been charged with a drug-related felony after the execution of a narcotics search warrant by authorities on July 9.
According to a probable-cause statement, upon arrival, entry was made in the residence and authorities contacted Stephen Von Womack and Valerie Barber. During the search of his person, it was found that Womack had a plastic container containing a white crystal/liquid substance. Womack told deputies it was methamphetamine.
Authorities asked Barber and Womack if there were any other illegal narcotics inside the residence. Womack explained there were needles and glass smoking pipes in the bedroom under the bed. Items seized included two glass smoking pipes with white crystal residue; three plastic containers and plastic baggies with white crystal residue; two used needles; and a wood box containing approximately 50 needles.
Barber and Womack each were originally charged with a Class D Felony for Possession of a Controlled Substance and a Class E Felony for Keeping or Maintaining a Public Nuisance. The court dismissed Count Two in both cases.
On August 10, Von Womack entered a guilty plea to the possession charge. Von Womack received a sentence of five years in the custody of D.O.C. with his execution stayed and he was placed on probation for five years.
On Friday, October 9, Barber withdrew her plea of not guilty and entered a plea of guilty to the charge of a class D felony Possession of Controlled Substance. Barber was sentenced to a suspended imposition of sentence and placed on five years probation.
