A 29-year-old Sedalia resident is facing felony charges after authorities responded to a domestic disturbance inside a vehicle on Sunday, October 18.
According to a Sedalia Police Report, a woman asked Michael Etter to drop her off at home several times after letting him know she did not want to be with him anymore. She said Etter began yelling at her, and then it turned physical. She said she was scared, so she used pepper spray on Etter as he began grabbing her by her neck inside the vehicle. Etter was able to get the spray away from the woman and sprayed her in the face with it. She said Etter pushed her out of the vehicle but still had a grasp of her as she tried to run away.
When trying to arrest Etter, the officer says Etter resisted. Once inside the patrol vehicle, Etter hit his head off the cage inside the vehicle. Jail staff refused to take Etter due to a cut on his forehead. He refused to let hospital staff treat his cut, so he was transported back to the jail. To prevent Etter from hitting his head again, a helmet was placed on his head.
Court documents say Etter has been charged with a Class D Felony for Kidnapping and Class E Felonies for Assault in the Third Degree and Resisting Arrest. Bond has been set at $25,000 cash or surety.
Etter was arraigned on October 20. His next hearing is set for 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 3, at Pettis County Circuit Court.
